A forgotten illustration, rediscovered at the heart of the House

It was in the quiet intimacy at the heart of the House founded in Paris in 1919 that a forgotten illustration was rediscovered one autumn morning. A small treasure slipped between two old sheets of paper, without date or signature, like an enigma from the past. The image of a Christmas of long ago, delicately dated, like a postcard from the heart, a precious moment that time had patinated without ever erasing.

Through this find, the entire spirit of the holidays of yesteryear was awakened. That of winters covered in a veil of frost, where windowpanes would steam up while waiting for the snow. That of candlelit vigils, golden stars hung on walls, the laughter of bundled-up children, shortbread offered as ribbon-tied gifts, and hot tea scenting the house with notes of cinnamon and orange.

Decorations between antique engraving and Victorian imagery

The decorations of this case are inspired by a delightfully dreamlike universe, on the borderline between antique engraving and Victorian imagery. On the first illustration: an ornamented Christmas tree sits enthroned at the heart of an antique teapot, surrounded by cherubs, dreamy birds, and protective angels. For those who take the time to observe, a multitude of details are revealed: alicorns, miniature carriages, hanging embroidered hearts, golden cups, and even a duo of children huddled under a streetlamp.

The second visual extends the enchantment with English roses, a few children in festive attire, and the House's iconic dome tin. An intimate scene, like an invitation to a winter tea party. Each illustration tells a story of tradition, childhood, and sharing, infused into the world of tea.

Christmas Tea: a joyful ritual in a 125g tin

To prolong the pleasure, Betjeman & Barton has reimagined its essential 125g tin of Christmas tea. Prepared each year-end like a joyful ritual, hands a little cold, the heart already warm. A precious and spicy infusion, blending black teas, orange, maraschino cherry, caramel, and vanilla…

A tea that accompanies December evenings like a soft blanket, a dim lamp, or a familiar voice. This tin is more than an object: it is a memory, an ancient charm, a little theater where the Christmases of our childhood come back to life.

We find on its illustration our Christmas tree adorned with sparkling garlands and colorful baubles, enthroned at the heart of an English porcelain teapot. Here and there, colorful and beautifully decorated Christmas baubles. One of them bears the word "LOVE" written in gold letters, a soft and tender symbol that reflects our unconditional love of tea. Note the lovely swallow bringing a light and poetic touch, carrying a golden star ready to illuminate the sky, like an invitation to dream…
