We leave the choice to you! Some of our English porcelain teapots carry on the British tradition of brewing loose leaves directly in the pot. Conversely, we have chosen to include several porcelain teapots in our collection that feature a built-in filter, making it easier to serve once the tea has brewed. You can choose the model that best suits your preferences.
2. Are these porcelain teapots dishwasher safe?
Our English teapots are entirely hand-painted, so we recommend hand-washing them in lukewarm water to preserve the luster of the floral patterns and any gold finishes for years to come. Dishwashers, with their high-temperature cycles and harsh detergents, can dull the decorations and weaken the decorated porcelain over time. A simple rinse followed by gentle drying is enough to keep your teapot looking as good as new.
3. Can a porcelain teapot be placed directly on a heat source (stovetop, flame)?
No. Our English teapots are designed to receive already simmering water, not to be heated directly. Placing them on a stovetop, over a flame, or on any direct heat source would expose the porcelain to thermal shock, which could crack or shatter it. Heat your water separately in a kettle, then pour it into the pre-warmed teapot.
4. Is it advisable to preheat your English porcelain teapots before brewing tea?
Yes, it is a simple step that makes all the difference. Rinse the inside of the teapot with a little hot water before brewing, then empty it: this warms the porcelain, helping to maintain the water at the right temperature throughout the brewing process. The tea releases its aromas better and stays hot longer in the cup. Preheating also prevents thermal shock when pouring in the simmering water.
5. How should I care for a decorated porcelain teapot to preserve its patterns over time?
Wash your teapot by hand in lukewarm water without using abrasive detergents or scouring pads, which could damage the patterns. If tannin deposits form inside, a little diluted baking soda is enough to gently refresh the porcelain. Dry without rubbing using a soft cloth, and store the teapot with the lid slightly ajar to allow air to circulate. Maintained this way, it will last for years without losing its shine.
