Cup, infuser, thermometer: the essentials for successful preparation

In the many cultures around the world that consider tea an art, its preparation is as important as its tasting. As tea enthusiasts, we at Betjeman & Barton have selected high-quality accessories to ensure your tea is delicious and prepared under the best conditions.

To infuse tea leaves in a cup or teapot, our catalog includes several tea balls, including an "egg" tea ball, oval-shaped and made of metal for durability. It's very easy to use: simply clip the two halves together once filled. Then, immerse it in water for the recommended time and remove it easily thanks to its chain. Supplied with its stand, it will quickly become your best ally for quick tea preparation!

Tea lovers know that water temperature is crucial for properly releasing the subtle aromas of tea leaves. Thus, using a thermometer to check this value can be very useful! We have chosen a model graduated up to 100 degrees, to control your infusion with the greatest precision.

We have also included a wooden boxin our catalog to store your tea bags. This charming little box highlights them while preventing them from scattering and getting lost in the kitchen. It holds up to 60 individual tea bags, making it a beautiful showcase for a varied range of infusions to offer or enjoy yourself. Reflecting the brand, it features a slightly shimmering pearl gray shade and bears the Betjeman & Barton logo in black.

Focus on the essentials for matcha preparation

In Japan, matcha preparation is an art. For centuries, this green tea has been particularly appreciated for its "umami" and vegetal notes, recognizable among a thousand. This bitter drink is prepared during a true ceremony, which involves handling different utensils: a bowl, a bamboo whisk, and a spatula or measuring spoon.

To begin, it is recommended to sift one to two grams of matcha into the bowl to prevent the formation of lumps. Hot water can then be poured over the powder, but be careful not to let it be boiling, as this could create too much bitterness. It is advisable to wait until the water temperature is between 70 and 80 degrees. At this point, whisk the drink with the bamboo whisk, using W or M shaped movements, until a fine foam appears on the surface. Then, all that's left is to savor your matcha directly from the bowl, before the suspension settles!

At Betjeman & Barton, we understand that matcha preparation is a delicate ritual, imbued with the greatest respect. That's why we offer quality products to create delicious matcha:

• Matcha bowl, chawan, made of ceramic and with ideal dimensions of 8 cm high with a diameter of 10 cm.
• Matcha whisk, chasen, designed in bamboo, to whisk the drink properly. After use, it can be rinsed with clear water and then placed on its whisk holder, before being carefully wiped with a clean, dry cloth.
• Porcelain whisk stand, a vibrant green, designed to hold the chasen.
• Tea spatula, chasaku, used to measure the exact dose of powder for preparation. For 100 ml of water, it is recommended to pour two spatulas into the bowl, then whisk vigorously to obtain the creamy texture on the surface so appreciated in matcha.

Beginners can opt for our complete matcha kit, which includes all these utensils, for a successful ceremony.

Some complementary tea accessories

Tea tasting is no ordinary act. To transform this moment into a complete sensory experience, from beginning to end, we have provided several accessories to add to the table in the morning or at tea time. To accompany the drink, what could be more delicious than toast topped with marmalade or homemade jam? For a neat presentation, discover our silver-plated toast rack, which can hold up to 6 slices.

To immerse the entire room in an atmosphere conducive to relaxation and sensory pleasures, we also offer the 1001 Nights candle, with an amber and spicy fragrance, which diffuses a scent similar to that of the inside of the most beautiful tea boxes.
