- Indian tea long in the mouth -

This Assam tea is composed of black leaves which grade offers a cup rich in tannins, that lingers in the mouth and with no acridness.

Founded nearly 200 years ago, Greenwood Garden is located in the Dibrugarh East district of Assam, in the heart of a region known as the "Tea City of India" for its stunning landscapes and tea culture. This 1,000-hectare estate stretches across beautiful low-lying alluvial plains, bathed in the light and humidity of northeastern India, offering a setting that is as impressive as it is serene: at sunrise, mist hangs over the rows of tea bushes, and the colonial bungalows evoke the living history of the site.

Formerly British property, Greenwood houses a large, typical house where successive managers hosted memorable tea parties: it is said that in the early morning, one could hear Anglo-Indian melodies played on the century-old piano inherited from the Victorian era. Around the garden, oral tradition evokes the rustic nature of the first caravans transporting tea on elephant back to the Brahmaputra River, before the arrival of the railway, and some elders claim that the name "Greenwood" refers to a sacred forest that once bordered the plots, a refuge for wild elephants and a habitat for migratory birds.

Greenwood represents far more than an exceptional terroir: it is a place of experiences and inspiration, welcoming visitors and enthusiasts from around the world drawn to its landscapes, period bungalows, and wine tastings at the source. During harvest season, the sight of the grape pickers in colorful saris, moving gracefully in the morning light, creates a living tableau, a testament to the garden's heritage and prestige.

If we love this garden so much, it is because it resonates fully with our values: high standards and excellence, visible in the rigor of its manual harvesting; generosity, in its open landscapes, its traditions of hospitality and the care given to each leaf; commitment, through its strong links with the pickers and the tea houses; and creativity, in its ability to combine ancestral know-how and contemporary inspiration, offering a sensory experience and a living heritage with every tasting.

Food and tea pairings
For a surprising savory pairing, prepare a creamy spelt risotto, enhanced with toasted hazelnut pieces, fine shavings of aged Parmesan, and a touch of bitter cocoa. The spelt, with its delicate texture and toasted grain notes, complements the tea's spicy warmth beautifully, while the hazelnut and Parmesan prolong the warm, comforting, and woody finish.

Recipe based on Assam Greenwood GBOP
Have you ever tried sous vide cooking? This unique technique reveals the full subtlety of a beef fillet, here delicately flavored with Assam Greenwood tea. Season the meat with salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar, then place it in a tea bag along with 4g of tea leaves, a sprig of thyme, and a drizzle of olive oil. After two hours of slow cooking, a quick sear in a pan creates a golden, crispy crust. The Assam Greenwood infuses the meat with a velvety, spicy depth, for an unforgettable combination.
