Organic black tea with notes of ripe fruit
This organic black tea is picked in full peak summer. It has a rather particular malta. It is an excellent vintage with notes of ripe fruits.
The Jamguri Garden, founded in 1898, is located in the Golaghat district of southeastern Assam, near the Dhansiri and Brahmaputra rivers. Historically, it was known as Nagora before adopting its current name, meaning "land of Jamun," a reference to the native plum trees whose fruit, once used to flavor tea, still contributes to the estate's remarkable biodiversity. This tradition gives Jamguri a unique identity, blending botanical heritage with original cultivation practices.
The garden benefits from a low altitude typical of the Assam region, situated around 100 to 150 meters, with plantations thriving in sandy soils enriched by the alluvial deposits of the Dhansiri River. This terroir, combined with a warm and humid tropical climate, fosters the development of full-bodied black teas with pronounced malty notes. These natural conditions, coupled with strictly organic practices since 2006, guarantee rich biodiversity, conducive to the vitality of the Camellia sinensis var. assamica plants.
Jamguri stands out for its early conversion to organic farming, certified in 2006, which testifies to a continuous commitment to product purity and respect for the environment. The garden's reputation also stems from its ability to harmonize spring and summer harvests: the blending of first flush lots (milder, floral) and second flush lots (more full-bodied, fruity) yields premium teas, typical of Assam but with unexpected suppleness and finesse.
The Jamguri garden produces numerous prestigious grades of black tea and a few green teas, exclusively organically grown. We have selected the FTGFOP1 grade, considered one of the finest; it expresses the power, elegance, and purity of the terroir. It perfectly aligns with our values: a commitment to quality, respect for biodiversity, and a quest for authentic harmony, inherited from the Assam tradition.
Food and tea pairings
Jamguri's Assam tea, with its rich tannins and powerful notes, pairs beautifully with aged cheeses like Comté or Gruyère. The cheese's creamy texture, with its aromas of dried fruit and hazelnut, is wonderfully balanced by the tea's depth, while the Assam tannins enhance the cheese's structure without overpowering it. A perfect match where each sip of tea accentuates the cheese's complexity and intensity, creating a delicate balance between richness and vibrancy.

For a delicate and original Indian touch, prepare a unique raita. Incorporate about 5 cl of cold-brewed Jamguri tea into smooth organic yogurt. Add finely chopped celery, diced green apple, lightly toasted cumin, and a pinch of salt. After chilling in the refrigerator to allow the flavors to meld, this raita reveals a beautiful balance between the tea's spicy sweetness and the vegetal crunch, ideal as an accompaniment to a vegetable curry.
