Tesoro… “treasure”: this is how people call each other in Florence or Naples, in the lemon-scented streets or on a sunny terrace.
The idea for this tea was born during a trip to the heart of Italy, between the markets of Sicily and the cafés of Rome. There, this word often comes up, tenderly slipped into the simplest exchanges. It says it all: warmth, generosity, discreet but wholehearted love.
This is the feeling we wanted to translate into a cup. The vegetal freshness of Sencha meets the sensuality of vanilla. The deep yellow marigold petals complete this picture, evoking summer fields or the golden papers of Neapolitan pastries.
Vanilla, a rare choice for green tea
At Betjeman and Barton, vanilla is a precious note, which we readily associate with the warmth of black teas, whose tannic structure highlights its roundness and depth.
In the more vegetal world of green teas, its presence is more discreet, almost unexpected. It sometimes slips in alongside fruits, as in our Courtisanes creation, or in our green version of Christmas tea, where it brings a tender touch to a blend of citrus and spices.
