When Africa and India meet...
This infusion was born from a conversation, like so many beautiful ideas. A loyal customer of our boutique on Boulevard Malesherbes, a great traveler and lover of India, dreamed of a caffeine-free chai. She wanted to rediscover the aromas of her stays in Jaipur or Kochi—cardamom, cinnamon, cloves—but in a milder version, to be enjoyed in the evening. Her wish inspired this sunny and enveloping creation, designed like a chai in a velvet robe. In this cup, all the spicy warmth of India is invited to the glowing lands of South Africa. But this aromatic journey would not have been possible without the expertise of Betjeman and Barton.



The alchemy of perfumes

For over a century, our house has cultivated the art of flavoring, enhancing the finest raw materials with expertly measured dosages. Our Spice Rooibos embodies this requirement: each ingredient finds its rightful place, without ever dominating the other. The spices warm without overwhelming, the vanilla softens without weighing down, the rooibos remains clear and luminous. A meeting between continents and cultures, shaped by a profoundly French know-how, that of harmony.

Rooibos and food pairings
Rooibos Spices pairs perfectly with winter treats: soft cinnamon cakes, pear and chocolate tarts, gingerbread, or shortbread cookies. It can also be served with blue cheese, in a surprising contrast between the salty power and the sweet and spicy roundness of the infusion. Its character allows it to enhance simple dishes by bringing them a touch of exoticism.



Rooibos Spice Recipes
Infused hot in plant-based milk, it becomes the basis for a sweet and digestible "chai latte," enhanced with a hint of honey or maple syrup. It also lends itself to cold infusions for summer, with a cinnamon stick and a few orange slices. For dessert, it can flavor apple compote, rice pudding, or be reduced to a syrup to coat a panna cotta with oriental flavors.
