The memory of the mists
In the Ashford family, every cup tells a story. The story of Earl Grey White carries the gentle, knowledgeable voice of Aunt Elsbeth, the American aunt who lived in China for thirty years. There, she discovered white tea, its subtle nuances, its infusions as clear as silk. But her British roots were never far away, and the allure of bergamot, that aristocratic fragrance of English tea, never left her.
A taste rediscovered
While in Paris, Elsbeth reunited with her family, the Ashfords, who lived on the Right Bank and were loyal to our A family business for generations. It was in our shop on Boulevard Malesherbes that they introduced her to this very unique version of Earl Grey, made with white tea. It was a revelation. She found in it the light of China and the elegance of the English ritual, all combined in a single cup. Thus was born her favorite tea, the one she shared with those who knew how to take the time. An Earl Grey of pure lightness, like her conversation: fluid, precise, and subtle.
An elegance that can be felt
Aunt Elsbeth often said that “white tea never speaks loudly, but it says what is essential.” Tannin-free and remarkably smooth on the palate, white tea is one of the most delicate teas to harvest and to enjoy. It never overwhelms or saturates the palate; it hydrates, refreshes, and soothes. This natural purity, this understated grace, is what fascinated Elsbeth. In this White Earl Grey, she found everything she loved: a subtle balance, a soft light, and a discreet, almost meditative elegance.
