From the Freshness of Morocco to the Elegance of Carouge
This creation was born from a place and a transition: the Betjeman and Barton boutique in Carouge, Geneva. A refined setting opened in 1995 by Véronique, a woman of taste, heart, and travel, who divides her life between the shores of Lake Geneva and the light of Morocco. Today, she passes the torch to Marie, who brilliantly embodies the next generation and perpetuates the art of tea in Carouge, with this blend as a unifying link.
In Mystique Sahara, each ingredient carries a symbol. The Nanah mint, picked in Morocco, is a tender nod to Véronique. This soft, luminous mint tells of her travels, her generosity, her sensitivity to true flavors. The Calabrian bergamot, meanwhile, echoes Marie, who is now taking over the boutique with elegance and fidelity. This noble and refined fruit embodies the continuity of the Betjeman and Barton style, this taste for classics revisited with precision, this unique way we have of bringing together timelessness and daring.
Tea and food pairings
Mystique Sahara lends itself to many pairings, with complete elegance. On the sweet side, it enhances oriental pastries with almonds and orange blossom, lime financiers, or even a fresh fruit salad with mint.
Tea-based recipes and cocktails
Cold-brewed, Mystique Sahara reveals its full poetic character, becoming a refreshing, minty, and zesty elixir, perfect for a summer break. Served in a slender glass with a few fresh mint leaves and a twist of candied bergamot, it evokes the elegance of the Majorelle Garden at sunset. For a non-alcoholic cocktail version, simply add a splash of green apple juice, a drop of orange blossom water, and a few shaved ice cubes—a poetic refreshment, as thirst-quenching as it is stylish.
