- Green tea flavoured with mint -

This green tea is the tea of hospitality in North Africa. Excellent alternative to fresh mint, China Gunpowder and Nanah mint from Morocco get along to give this classic tea rich in vitamin C. To be enjoyed with a pinch of sugar.

  • Nanah Mint from Morocco

Green Mint Tea - The essence of freshness

Among the most consumed teas in the world, mint tea holds a special place. A symbol of hospitality, sharing, and freshness, it transcends cultures and eras. But behind this apparent simplicity lies a delicate art, which Betjeman & Barton sought to honor with precision.

It all begins with a green tea Gunpowder, carefully selected for its brewing stability and lively, vegetal character. Originating from China, its rolled leaves release a clear, structured, intensely green liquor, preparing the palate for the aromatic ascent.

Then comes Nanah mint, a gem from Morocco. Hand-picked under the sun in mountainous regions, its broad, velvety leaves are rich in essential oils. Neither pungent nor overly green, it offers a round, deep, almost sweet tonicity that makes all the difference: a delicate, almost mellow fragrance, without any harshness, the authentic taste of traditional mint tea.

The quest for true Moroccan mint

Mint tea has long inhabited our sensory memory. It evokes carved glasses, melting sugar loaves, the rustling of leaves in patios, cool shade, and slow gestures. Yet, finding the mint capable of evoking this memory accurately was a true quest.

We tasted dozens of varieties, seeking to rediscover that sweet, almost shimmering freshness that gives Moroccan teapots all their charm. And it was in Morocco, of course, that we found our ideal leaf: Nanah mint, grown on small-scale farms, using respectful practices.

 Simply unique
It is in the Tadla-Azilal region, between the foothills of the Atlas and the fertile plains of central Morocco, that we discovered the finest mint leaves. There, the mineral-rich soils and cool nights promote an optimal concentration of essential oils. The plants are cultivated on hillsides, sheltered from drying winds, and harvested only when the plant reaches its aromatic peak.

Hand-picked in the early morning, when the leaves are still covered in dew, then slowly dried in the shade using a traditional method passed down from generation to generation, this mint retains its crystalline fragrance and intense green color. It doesn't dominate; it harmonizes. It is what gives our blend all its nobility and sweetness. An exceptional mint, worthy of the tea of hospitality.

Tea and Food Pairings

Our Mint tea can be enjoyed hot, as part of a Moroccan ritual, or iced, to prolong the sensation of freshness on summer days. It pairs wonderfully with oriental pastries: gazelle horns, almond ghribas, melting makrouts… But also with more classic treats: a square of dark chocolate, a lemon tart, or even a verbena sorbet.

Mint Green Tea Cocktail

Alcohol-free Mojito

Ingredients (for 2 glasses):

  • 400 ml of cold-infused Mint Green Tea*
  • 1 lime (cut into wedges)
  • 8 to 10 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 teaspoons liquid cane sugar (or honey)
  • Very cold sparkling water
  • Ice cubes or crushed ice
  • Garnishes: mint sprigs, lime slices

*For cold infusion: 8 g of Mint green tea, 500 ml of filtered water, 5 to 6 hours in the refrigerator.

  • Prepare the glass: In a large glass, place the lime wedges and cane sugar. Lightly crush with a muddler to release the juice and zest oils.

  • Pour the tea: Add the cold-infused Mint Green Tea. Stir gently.
  • Lengthen: Top up with sparkling water to your taste.
