Iced green tea

Iced green tea has the elegance of simple pleasures and the temperament of drinks that refuse to stay in their lane. Light, vegetal, fruity, floral, or frankly indulgent, it offers infinite variations, from sunny days to the first autumn chills.

For there is no such thing, strictly speaking, as “iced tea” in the same way there is green, black, or oolong tea. It is a tea chosen for its aromatic notes and the mood of the moment. The same recipe can therefore be served hot today and chilled tomorrow: Betjeman & Barton thus brings together in its selection classic creations that are transformed by coolness, without changing their nature.

Iced green tea

Iced green tea, a naturally refreshing, indulgent, and delicate beverage

Light, thirst-quenching, and naturally refined, iced green teais perfectly at home when temperatures rise, but its brilliance isn’t limited to lunches on the terrace. Whether as an aperitif, during a meal, after a workout, or simply to accompany your day, it offers a fresh and elegant alternative to sugary drinksall year round, or simply for when a bottle of mineral water doesn't quite hit the spot.

Its indulgent naturecomes first and foremost from the tea itself. To its fine, slightly vibrant vegetal base, our scented creations add, depending on the recipe, the freshness of citrus, the roundness of fruits, the delicacy of flowers, the depth of spices, the vivacity of mint, or the sweetness of creamier notes. Served plain, it easily does without sugar, while also lending itself perfectly to fresh fruit, a zest of lemon, aromatic herbs, or a dash of syrup.

Always attentive to both the quality of the leaves and the precision of the blends, the House imagines recipes capable of revealing their personality whether served hot or iced. A way to extend the pleasure of green teathroughout the seasons, without ever sacrificing its finesse or character.

At Betjeman & Barton, certain blends seem naturally destined for cold infusion. Their aromatic balanceis transformed upon contact with cool water, revealing a new facet of their personality.

Lundi Light

Based on a Chinese Sencha, Lundi Lightplays a clean and delightful trio: lemon, lemongrass, and ginger. The lemon leads the way, the lemongrass establishes its herbaceous freshness, and the ginger provides a dry, subtly spiced finish. Cold-infused, it becomes a thirst-quenching aperitif to serve with a twist of lime.

Réveil Bio

Here, Japanese Senchameets maté, lemongrass, orange peel, ginger, and a few safflower petals. Réveil Biopossesses the energy of a well-orchestrated start: the citrus provides momentum, the matébrings its liveliness, and the ginger awakens the finish. Cold, it works wonders at a late breakfast or when an afternoon calls for a little extra boost.

Matcha-Sencha Latte

Matcha-Sencha Lattecombines matcha powderand Sencha leavesin an intensely green, vegetal, and naturally smooth cup, without containing any milk. The matcha brings its density, notes of fresh grass, and a touch of iodine. The Sencha lightens the whole. Shaken with a few ice cubes, it takes on the air of a chic smoothie, in a lighter version.

Earl Grey Primeur

A first-flush Chinese green tea, a first-harvest bergamot, and suddenly the Earl Grey changes its silhouette. Earl Grey Primeuris crystalline, zesty, silky, and almost airy. The cold infusion highlights the purity of the bergamotand the vegetal delicacy of the leaf: a haute couture version of citrus tea.

Comme une Étoile

Comme une Étoilemakes peach, kiwi, bergamot, violet, and orange blossom dance on a base of Chinese green tea. The peach brings its mellow quality, the kiwi a mischievous hint, while the flowers leave a softer trail.

Malesherbes Vert

An iconic creation of the House, Malesherbes Vertcombines a Chinese Senchawith passion fruit, vineyard peach, wild strawberry, and rose petals. Served hot, the passion fruit willingly takes center stage. Cold, the peach shines brighter. This dual personality reveals how temperature can reshape a blend.

Betjeman & Barton, creator of high-quality iced green teas

Since 1919, Betjeman & Barton has cultivated a savoir-fairewhere tradition always retains enough spirit to reinvent itself. Demanding leaf selection, precision in blending, and exclusive creations give birth to iced green teasthat are as accessible to neophytes as they are exciting for seasoned enthusiasts: the former discover frank and seductive flavors, while the latter appreciate their balance, depth, and remarkable length on the palate.

Depending on the variety, these recipes are available loose, in sachets, or in the House’s iconic metal tins. From the candy pink of Parlez-moi d’Amourto the royal blue of C’est une belle histoire, their packaging possesses that instantly recognizable allure that makes them as much collector's items as they are elegant gift ideas, with the pleasure of the eyes preceding that of tasting by only a very short margin.

Finally, iced teafans can go well beyond the scope of green tea alone. Citrus black teasand fruit herbal teas open up new horizons, depending on your cravings and the time of day. Malesherbes even extends the experience in the form of a syrup, ideal for enlivening sparkling water or giving a cocktail a very special distinction.

H2 - All our advice for cold or hot infusion of iced green tea

Cold infusionis the gentlest method. Place the equivalent of one tablespoon of tea per liter of cool water, let it infuse in the refrigerator for about 2 to 3 hours, then strain. The cold water extracts the aromas delicately and limits bitterness: the fruits gain clarity, the flowers remain fine, and the vegetal notes retain their suppleness. For ready-to-infuse sachets, the House recommends about 3 hours in 1.5 liters of water.

The hot methodprovides more body. Infuse the green tea for 2 to 3 minutes in 80°C water, remove the leaves, then let cool before placing your unsweetened beveragein the refrigerator. Avoid immediately pouring the boiling tea over a mountain of ice cubes: melting them would dilute its flavors.

When serving, let your imagination run wild: an apricot wedge and a verbena leaf with Comme une Étoile, a zest of grapefruit and a thin slice of ginger with Lundi Light, a few basil leaves with Réveil Bio, a slice of blood orange and a sprig of rosemary with Earl Grey Primeur, or a spoonful of passion fruit and a fresh strawberry with Malesherbes Vert.
